I'm Garrett. Virginia introduced me to American whiskey; Texas taught me that barbecue is more than a meal—it's patience, craft, and community. For years I chased new bottles and learned everything I could about America's native spirit, but my favorite memories rarely came from the rarest bottle on the shelf. They came from sharing a pour with friends after tending a smoker all day. That's the idea behind Carbon & Oak.

This isn't about collecting trophies or being the loudest voice in the room—plenty of people know more than I do, and I'm fine with that. I'm here to document the journey, share what I've learned, and admit when I get something wrong. You'll find honest bourbon reviews focused on bottles you can actually buy, practical guides that make whiskey less intimidating, and notes from behind the smoker—the wins and the failures both. Because the best bourbon tastes better with good food, and great barbecue is even better with good company. Whether you're here for your next bottle or just another reason to fire up the smoker this weekend, pull up a chair, pour something worth sharing, and stay awhile.

Cheers!
